To stage a whole vacant listing with QuickStage, pick one clear photo of each room that matters, drop up to 10 of them into the upload form at once, choose a room type and a style for each, confirm, and download the results with the "Virtually Staged" label on. Each photo is staged in about 30 seconds and costs $1 pay-as-you-go, and a new user's first three are free with no account or card. For a typical handful of photos, the whole job fits in roughly ten minutes.
That ten minutes is our estimate for, say, a six-photo listing, not a promise or a measured result. Your first visit runs longer if you stop to buy credits. The steps are the same either way.
The ten-minute plan at a glance
| Step | What you do | Rough time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Pick the photos | 2 minutes |
| 2 | Upload them and set a room and style for each | 2 minutes |
| 3 | Enter your email, review and confirm | 1 minute |
| 4 | Wait for the results | 1 to 2 minutes |
| 5 | Run the Slider Check and fix anything that's off | 2 minutes |
| 6 | Download the labeled files | 1 minute |
Step 1: Which photos should you pick? (about 2 minutes)
You don't need every photo in the gallery staged. Pick the rooms a buyer looks at first.
The National Association of Realtors' 2025 Profile of Home Staging gives a useful order. In NAR's summary of the survey, agents named the living room (37%), the primary bedroom (34%) and the kitchen (23%) as the rooms that matter most to buyers. Those figures are about staging the home itself, not virtually staged photos, but they are a sensible place to start.
For example, a six-photo set for a three-bedroom house could be the living room, the primary bedroom, the dining room, a second bedroom, an office and the kitchen. Four rules for choosing:
- One angle per room. Each photo is staged on its own, so two angles of the same room may not get matching furniture. Use your best single view.
- Empty rooms only. QuickStage is built to furnish vacant rooms. A photo that already has furniture in it will still stage, but empty-room shots come out cleaner.
- Original files. Use the file from the camera or phone, not a screenshot. JPEG, PNG, WEBP and HEIC all work, up to 20 MB each. Aim for at least 1,024 pixels on the longest side; the form warns you about smaller photos because the result can look soft.
- Expect less from kitchens and baths. We add only movable furniture and decor and never add appliances or built-ins that aren't there, so those rooms change less than a living room does.
Step 2: Upload and tag every photo (about 2 minutes)
- Open QuickStage and drop in the listing's photos. You can drag them onto the upload box or click it to select files, up to 10 photos at once.
- Each photo appears with two menus. Set the room type first: Living Room, Bedroom, Kitchen, Bathroom, Dining Room, Office, Laundry Room, Closet, Garage, Other or Exterior.
- Set the style. Interiors have eight: Modern, Scandinavian, Luxury, Farmhouse, Industrial, Bohemian, Traditional and Shabby Chic. An Exterior photo gets a treatment instead, Curb Appeal or Twilight.
Every photo needs both a room type and a style before the Stage button unlocks. The style is set per photo, so nothing stops you from mixing them. Our advice is to use one style for the whole house, so the gallery reads as one home.
Step 3: Enter your email, review and confirm (about 1 minute)
Type your email address under the photos. That is where results are delivered, and it is how your credits are tracked. There is no account or password to create. The first time you use an address, we confirm it once with a link sent to that inbox.
Click the Review & stage button and a confirmation screen lists each photo with its room and style. One credit is used per photo, so read the list, tick the box and confirm.
If the batch needs more credits than you have, you're sent to checkout for the difference before anything is staged. For a first listing the simplest order is to stage three photos on the free trial, then buy credits and run the rest.
Step 4: Wait for the results (1 to 2 minutes)
Staging takes about 30 seconds a photo. The page shows a progress count as photos finish, and you also get an email with a link back to the same results page, so you can close the tab and return later.
If a photo fails to stage, its credit is refunded and the page and the email both say so.
Step 5: Run the Slider Check (about 2 minutes)
Each result appears with a before-and-after slider, the original on one side and the staged version on the other. Use it. Our pre-download routine is the Slider Check, five questions per photo:
- Walls, windows and floors: do they match the original, including the paint color and the view through the glass?
- Fixed features: is everything built-in still there, and has nothing built-in been added?
- Doors and walkways: are they clear of furniture?
- Scale: does the furniture fit the room the way real furniture would?
- Accuracy: would a buyer walking in recognize this room?
QuickStage is built to keep walls, windows, floors and paint colors as photographed and to add only movable furniture and decor. That is the design rule, and you should still check every photo against it.
When a photo fails a question, use QuickFix under that photo. Describe the problem in plain words, such as "the chair blocks the doorway", and a replacement is staged. A QuickFix doesn't use a staging credit. The free trial includes one. Plans include 7, 20, 50 or 100 a month depending on the tier. Pay-as-you-go credits don't come with a monthly QuickFix allowance.
Step 6: Download the labeled files (about 1 minute)
With more than one finished photo you get a button to download them all as a ZIP, and each photo also has its own download button. Either one opens a short dialog with two checkboxes:
- A review confirmation. You confirm you've looked at the image and that it represents the property accurately. The download won't start without it.
- The "Virtually Staged" label. It's ticked by default and prints the words in a lower corner of the downloaded image. Leave it on.
The files are JPEGs sized for MLS upload, up to 2,048 by 1,536 pixels and never enlarged past the staged image. Each file name carries the photo number and the room, which keeps a multi-room listing in order.
What does a whole listing cost?
Here is the math for that six-photo example, as of October 2026.
| Your situation | The math | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| New user, pay-as-you-go | 3 free photos + 3 at $1 | $3 |
| Pay-as-you-go, free photos already used | 6 at $1 | $6 |
| Basic plan ($19.99 a month for 75 photos) | 6 at about $0.27 | About $1.60 of the month's allowance |
Pay-as-you-go has no subscription. You buy 1 to 50 credits at a time and they don't expire. If you stage several listings a month, a plan costs less per photo: plans start at $19.99 a month, and the rate goes as low as $0.13 a photo on monthly plans and $0.11 on the Agency plan billed yearly. QuickStage's pay-as-you-go and plan prices are listed in full on the pricing section.
How should you label the photos and keep the originals?
Label every staged photo, and keep the empty-room originals where you can find them.
- On the image: leave the "Virtually Staged" label on at download.
- In the remarks: say it again in words, for example: "Some photos are virtually staged. Furniture and decor are not included."
- In the gallery: keep the original next to the staged version where your MLS allows or requires it.
- In your files: save the six originals in the same folder as the six staged files, with matching names.
In California this is the law. AB 723 (Business and Professions Code §10140.8), in force since January 1, 2026, requires a disclosure that the image was altered plus a link, URL or QR code to the unaltered original. Many MLSs have their own rules on top. This isn't legal advice; check your MLS and broker.
Never use staging to cover something a buyer should see. A label does not excuse furniture placed to hide a stain or a damaged floor.
Bottom line
Staging a vacant listing with QuickStage is six steps: pick one photo per room, upload up to 10 at once, set a room and style for each, confirm, run the Slider Check, and download the labeled files. For a six-photo example that's roughly ten minutes and $3 for a new user, or $6 at the plain $1 rate. Keep the originals, leave the label on, and check your MLS rules before the listing goes live.
